Stella is three men, David Wain, Michael Showalter and Michael Ian Black. All should be familiar names as founders of the acclaimed sketch troupe The State, featured for three seasons on MTV and, for one episode, on CBS. They also released a book, State by State with The State. Individually, they are credited with:

David Wain
- Co-writer / Director, Wet Hot American Summer.
- His short film Aisle Six was featured at the Sundance Film Festival
- Appeared in Keeping the Faith and Spike Lee's Bamboozled

Michael Showalter
- Co-writer / featured in Wet Hot American Summer
- Appeared in Chocolate for Breakfast, an episode of Law & Order and Sex in the City

Michael Ian Black
- Starred in Wet Hot American Summer as well as an episode of NYPD Blue
- Played crooner Johnny Bluejeans on Comedy Central's State-spinoff Viva Variety
- Voice of the sock puppet
- Host of Spy TV
- Played the lovable Phil Stubbs, manager of Stuckeybowl, on NBC's Ed

As Stella, this trio, who have worked together since they were all 17 and 18 years old, has crafted a variety stage show mixing sketch, stand-up, film and special guests that carries on the tradition of the State's finest work, offbeat and overwhelmingly funny.
